The HONR4000 Honours Project is the last component of the original Honours Programme. Students enrolled in the original Honours Programme are required to complete this 4-credit yearly course that leads to the development a scholarly product. Students have to present results of their projects at the “Undergraduate Honours Project Symposium” held in the end of each academic year.

Course Nature

It takes the form of an undergraduate research thesis/creative project mentored by a faculty member in the student’s field of study. For student whose major programme already requires a final year project, the Honours Project could be complementing the final year project with additional requirement; e.g. to require the writing of an academic paper from the project results for publication in an established conference or a refereed journal.

Funding Support

Resources are available through University funding and is only applicable to expenses associated with production of the Honours Project. A funding of totally MOP 5,000 per Honours Project is approved by the University. Undergraduate Honours Project Symposium (webpage)

The Undergraduate Honours Project Symposium provides an opportunity to highlight the students’ academic achievements across all majors, programs, departments and divisions. It also provides a forum for students to demonstrate their understanding of perspectives, theories, concepts and skills they learnt and acquired from the Honours College. Through oral presentation and poster exhibition at the Symposium, a platform for better interaction between the students, the mentors and the individuals of their fields of study is formed.
