The final exams have come and gone in a blink of an eye, along with the hurrahs of the students that mark the grand commencement of summer break, that which a group of HC students proudly embarks with an exciting study trip to Guizhou, China. Under the support and organization of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Dean MOK, and 21 Honours College (HC) students joined a six-day study trip to Guizhou, China, together with Mr. LI Yongxian, representative from the Liaison Office, from May 20 to 25, 2017.

 

The visit group received warm and cordial welcome by the representatives of local government such as Deputy Director-General & Vice President of Guizhou Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Ms. XUE Youqiao, Deputy Division Chief of Hong Kong and Macao SAR Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, Ms. LIU Han, Vice-Mayor of Liupanshui City of Guizhou Province, Mr. CHEN Ping, etc. The six day itinerary included a comprehensive tour to the historic sites, museums, infrastructures, demonstration centres in the vicinity and also a chance to visit Guizhou University, where the visit group enjoyed friendly interactions with local students as well as a lecture on the development of Big Data technology.

 

For the students, the trip has been absolutely a precious chance, as reading the history of the country, the contributions of our industrious and diligent pioneers, was exceptionally palpable right at the localities where the events took place, and where imprints were left on the flow of time. In awe of the root of their country, nevertheless, the students were also introduced to the fruit and blossoms of current China, the development of Big Data technology in Guizhou, opening new horizons and fostering new scopes in viewing the future.

 

In between the interweaving past and future of the country lies our time, the present in which the students are growing with prospects. They are still cocoons, for now, but meanwhile are transforming in the progression of time, with the assistance and guidance from their beloved teachers and supporters, to be the future of the country, the pioneers of their era.
