On December 2, 2025, the “Honours College Student Association Turnover Ceremony and Study Abroad Pre-departure Gathering” was held by the Honours College Student Association (HCSA) at E12-G025. The event brought together faculty members, staff, and students of the Honours College (HC) and the University of Macau (UM) to celebrate the new leadership and bid farewell to the Class of 2027, who are going to study abroad next semester.

The event began with an encouraging speech from Prof. Rose Lai, Dean of HC, who extended her best wishes to the new board of HCSA and wished good luck and safety for the students studying abroad. This was followed by insights on leadership from the former HCSA President, Ms. Usee Zhang, who reflected on the achievements of the past year and expressed excitement for the new board.

The current President, Ms. Katie Xu, expressed gratitude for the support from HC students and officials, then introduced the new board of HCSA, promising to remain dedicated to contributing to HC. The board members include:
Mr. Tony Chang – Vice President
Ms. Fay Liu – Secretary General
Ms. Rainie Leong – Treasurer
Ms. Shirley Wang – Designer General
Ms. Adele Feng – Committee Executive
Ms. Leann Wong – Committee Executive

After the HCSA Turnover Ceremony, 32 students engaged in the Study Abroad Pre-departure Gathering, where Ms. Julian Cheong shared her experience from studying at the University of Bristol, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and find adventure on their journeys. Attendees then participated in the activity “Pack Your Dreams,” where they were invited to write down their expectations, must-bring items, and solutions for homesickness, then place the paper in an envelope to be preserved in a suitcase for their return. At the end, a DIY windchime workshop was held. Students enjoyed a comforting and creative process, chatting with each other as they crafted their very own windchimes.

This event not only celebrated the turnover of the HCSA board but also bid farewell to the outgoing students while fostering a harmonious atmosphere among all participants. We wish both the new HCSA board and the study abroad students the best of luck on their future journeys.
