The HC Promotion Month offered a series of engaging events designed to welcome new students and showcase the Honours College experience. Throughout this month, students took part in a variety of hands-on workshops and community events designed to build skills, spark creativity, and bring students together. From public speaking to immersive role-playing activities, each experience offered a chance to learn by doing and connect with peers in meaningful ways. The paragraph below summarizes all the events thoroughly designed by HC.
Public Speaking Workshop
To boost students’ efficiency in presenting ideas and strengthen their IELTS speaking skills, the HCSA invited the UM Public Speaking Team to host a fun, interactive event for students. Through small-group practice sessions and hands-on speaking games, students had opportunities to build confidence in expressing ideas clearly, receive immediate feedback from peers and instructors, and refine their delivery in a supportive environment.

HC Night
Scheduled for Sunday, March 08, the event promised a mixture of entertainment and informative dialogue. The night featured a mini talent show, offering HCers a stage to showcase their creative abilities, from music to other artistic expressions. Attendees also had opportunities to participate in Q&A sessions about the HC experience. The evening provided a blend of fun and insight into HC life, giving participants a firsthand look at the vibrant community.

Photography Workshop
Theory met practice during a hands-on film photography outing in Macau, where students were taken to the vibrant streets with their film cameras. The afternoon gave them an opportunity to apply newly learned techniques. It also allowed them to connect with peers and see the world through different perspectives. As they strolled through the busy lanes, they found moments worth capturing and shared ideas along the way.

World Vision Workshop
The promotion month closed with a special War and Refugee workshop. Instead of simply sitting and listening to basic facts about refugees, students became much more involved. They took part in immersive role plays, practically stepping into refugees’ shoes and experiencing what their daily struggles are really like. This hands-on experience allowed them to truly “become” a refugee for a moment and understand their hardships up close.

The Honours College is thrilled to welcome its incoming 2026 cohort of driven, talented, forward-thinking students who are ready to uphold the college’s core mission and begin their journey to become tomorrow’s leaders across Macau and beyond.
