I. Language proficiency requirement
During the application period, applicants are required to submit a valid TOEFL/IELTS/CAPLE score report.

  • For studying in the U.K. or U.S.: Applicant must obtain a valid TOEFL internet-based test score of 90 or above or IELTS (academic module) test score of 7.0 or above.
  • For studying in Portugal: Applicant must obtain valid CAPLE exam certification at level DEPLE (B1) or above.

Remarks:

  • Applicant must submit the VALID language test score report (except CAPLE exam) in the online application. Late submissions will NOT be considered.
  • For applicants who are required to submit the CAPLE exam test score, please note the following:
    • Submit an online application within the application period, together with your test registration for May 2024.
    • Valid test scores should be submitted to the HC Office on or before July 14, 2024 to complete your application. An incomplete application will be rejected.
    • If you are not able to take the CAPLE exam in May due to the time clash with UM exam, please contact HC office.

Important Note

  • Late submission of language test scores will NOT be accepted by HC. The application will be considered incomplete without a valid language test score submitted before the deadline. An incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Host universities may have English Proficiency Requirements for admission, please see the requirement (Link) for your reference.

Submit test score report to HC

  • TOEFL (iBT or Paper)

Submit the official electronic TOEFL Test Taker Score Report to HC

  • IELTS (Academic module)

Option 1) Submit the scanned copy of the paper IELTS Test Report Form to HC
Option 2) Submit the screenshot of your IELTS test result on the official website to HC. The screenshot should show your name, test date, Test Report Form Number (15–18 characters containing letters and numbers).

  • CAPLE (for Portuguese requirement)

Please collect the report from the test center, and submit the report to HC office once available.

II. Academic performance
Cumulative GPA 3.3 or above (For FLL students, scale 15 or above) by the time of application and at the end of semester prior to the study abroad semester.
III. Cumulative Competency Score (CS) requirement
Cumulative Competency Score (CS) requirement at 350 or above by the time of application, and 450 or above by the end of semester prior to the study abroad semester.
IV. Residential College residency
Students are required to have completed at least two-semester residency by the end of semester prior to the study abroad semester.

Oct – Nov 2024 Receiving acceptance and visa documents from host universities
Students prepare learning agreements and course exemption forms for their study abroad semester
Prepare visa application and attend in-person visa application appointment
Dec 2024 Finalize and seek approval of the learning agreement
Attend HC Pre-departure briefings
Jan – Feb 2025 Departure for the Funded HC Study Abroad Semester
