The heated topic around town has been none other than the then recent power shift in Taiwan. Perceiving the new bump in the political landscape of Taiwan, Prof. Jianwei WANG, Professor and Master of Arts in International Relations and Public Policy, responded to the invitation of the HCSA to hold the first News Discussion Forum of the semester.
Prof. WANG introduced the main background of the recent Taiwan election and clarified several contentions behind this political election. Students shared their personal views and many related issues were brought up and discussed in depth in the forum, such as the possibility of Taiwan returning to China and the coming American election’s impact on the international political scene.
This news discussion forum provided a good platform for university students to broaden their horizon focusing on international issues, and allowed an opportunity to develop students’ critical thinking and foster dynamic discussion between professors and students.
