The Honours College of the University of Macau, in response to the invitation of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, organized a study trip to Wuhan, Hubei in June. The study group consisted of 3 HC alumni and 18 HC students, accompanied by Liaison Office’s Department of Culture and Education Assistant Jiayi CEN , Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council Representative  Yang LAI, and the Dean of the Honours College Kai Meng MOK .

The aim of the study trip was to help students better understand China’s political, economic, and cultural developments. To this end students attended a wide range of lectures on a wide range of topics, including the International Relations of China, the National 13th Five-Year Plan, and the 1911 Revolution. They were also invited to have luncheon with representatives of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People’s Government, which gave the participants a glimpse of the function of the Office. The delegation also visited the Hubei Students’ Federation, and had a chance to exchange fruitful ideas with local students.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Dr. SUN Yat-Sen’s birth, the students visited the Museum of Wuchang Uprising of 1911 Revolution, to have a fuller glimpse of our country’s past. The delegation also visited Yellow Crane Tower, Hankou Yangtze River Beach Park and East Lake scenic area, allowing the participants to fully experience the beauty of our motherland.
