The soft waves ruffled in the hot noon sun, as the ferry to Cheung Chau approached the pier. Unlike the few days before, when the rain came down in sheets, the little island bathed in the bright sun, warming up after the rain. August 19 was a sunny day in Hong Kong. Locals roamed everywhere, tourists walked about the island. Yet the group of HC students were there for another cause: to begin the “Live Out Your Life” Workshop, a 2-day-1-night journey organized by the Honours College Student Association in the outskirts of Hong Kong.

After a full lunch, Paul YIP and Vincent KWAN, HCSA board member the organizers of the Workshop, led the students up the hill into the Caritas Ming Fai Camp. Surrounded by tree and an incredible view of the encircling seas, the Camp sits atop the hill, as if commanding the rest of the island from above.

Having settled in their respective rooms, the students, having heard the instructions for the day, ran out to achieve their missions, each team exploring the island and discovering the local landmarks while running away from the other teams. The evening came around as the students, having returned from the day’s run, gathered around the fire as the participants shared their experiences over the hot food and warm coal. Jests and laughter floated through the air as the dinner drew to a close and the day came to an end.

The next morning, on August 20, the students began their day early. Having had the debriefing just moments before, the participants gathered around the breakfast table as each team discusses their strategy for the day. Soon enough the participants moved out and ran about the island again, going through different checkpoints while trying to stay alive and stay together.

The day finally ended and the teams returned to the camp for one final talk, as Paul YIP, the president and the President of the HCSA, gave a few words concerning the coming months and encouraged the community to stay together. Thus ended the exciting Live Out Your Life Workshop in Hong Kong.
