On December 18, 2024, the Honours College Student Association (HCSA) held a significant event titled “Honours College Student Association Turnover Ceremony and Study Abroad Pre-departure Gathering.” The event took place at E12-G025, bringing together faculty, staff, and students from the University of Macau (UM) and the Honours College (HC).
The event commenced with a heartfelt speech by Prof. Rose LAI, the Dean of HC. She expressed her expectations for the HCSA and extended her unwavering support for the newly elected members. Following her address, the former HCSA President, Ms. Jasmine DENG, shared her reflections on the accomplishments of the past year, while the current President, Ms. Usee ZHANG, outlined her vision for the future of the association.
Ms. Usee ZHANG also introduced the newly elected HCSA members, who are poised to contribute their dedication and talents to the organization:
- Mr. Alex CHIO – Vice President
- Ms. Rosanna YANG – Secretary General
- Ms. Ciara LI – Vice-Secretary General
- Ms. Tiffany MAK – Treasurer
- Ms. Miki HO – Designer General
- Mr. Doris WANG – Vice-Designer General
- Committee Executives: Ms. Emily LEI, Ms. Swing HE, Ms. Bernice CHEN, Ms. Wandy CHAO
With their passion and commitment, we are confident that they will make meaningful contributions to HC.
In addition to the HCSA Turnover Ceremony, 37 HCers are preparing for a semester abroad. To support these students, Mr. Roy LIANG from the HC Class of 2025 shared insights from his own time studying overseas. Prof. Rose LAI also shared her personal study abroad experiences, encouraging the students and wishing them a rewarding journey ahead.
As part of the gathering, attendees were invited to express their wishes for the study abroad students by writing their “Poem of Wishes” and hanging it on Ema, a symbolic representation of support.
To conclude the event, a bookmark painting workshop was held, where students enjoyed a creative and engaging atmosphere, strengthening their bonds as they prepare for their future adventures.
This gathering not only celebrated the transition within the HCSA but also fostered a sense of community and support among students embarking on new journeys. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these students will have in their respective studies and beyond.
