Acting on a wish to change society for the better, the Global Youth Leaders Summit 2019 brought over a hundred youths to Hong Kong this year to share and express their social innovation. UM and Macau representatives Candy UN and Eve ZHENG participated in the Summit, which was held in the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute from July 13-18.

 

 

Keynote speeches, panels and thematic workshops shed light on social issues such as poverty, sustainability and education. Participants were grouped around the three sub-themes and spent the following days brainstorming projects to address the relevant social issue, which cumulated in presentations. For their work in designing social projects to promote education in Southeast Asia, Candy and Eve’s groups won the Gold and Silver awards respectively. After the Summit, the participants enjoyed a tour around Hong Kong’s famous tourist attractions.
