HONR4001 Honours Project

Overview

The HONR4001 Honours Project is a compulsory project-based course of the Honours College Certificate Programme. The followings are a list of general learning objectives for the course.

• Integrate research skills relevant to students’ disciplines in completing the research report.
• Complete project in a timely and organized fashion independently.
• Develop oral and written presentation skills for further academic studies and professional practices.
• Orally present a project in a clear and organized manner.
• Write well-organized and concise project reports in a scientifically/professionally appropriate

Course Nature

The HONR4001 Honours Project is held in the second semester of students’ fourth year before their graduation. Each student is required to complete a scholarly project which needs to be in the form of a research report and independent study on a real-life problem or with practical applications under the supervision of a faculty advisor in his/her respective field of study, and a co-advisor in another field whenever applicable. The project is expected to meet the scholarly standards of the discipline and of the Honours College. Each student is required to present his/her project at the Honours Project Symposium.

Funding Support

Resources are available through University funding and are only applicable to expenses associated with the production of the Project. A funding will be granted for each student, based on actual expenditure. The amount for each project will be announced at the beginning of each academic year. Students should submit the Funding Proposal Form (Download here) for the Dean’s approval before acquiring goods/services and applying for reimbursement.
